{"id":517,"date":"2019-08-20T12:42:31","date_gmt":"2019-08-20T10:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exchangetimes.net\/?p=517"},"modified":"2019-08-20T12:42:31","modified_gmt":"2019-08-20T10:42:31","slug":"moving-my-server-from-windows-to-linux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exchangetimes.net\/?p=517","title":{"rendered":"Moving my server from Windows to Linux"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I have moved from Windows to Linux on my laptop and gaming PC (<a href=\"https:\/\/elementary.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elementary OS<\/a>) to be more specific and have not looked back.<\/p>\n<p>My home server was running <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Windows_Home_Server_2011\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Windows Home Server 2011<\/a> and it seemed like I lost one of my disks with my music on. Windows could not see the disk at all but I could see the disk in the BIOS. I then booted into Linux using a USB thumb drive and managed to access the disk and it&#8217;s data so proceded to backup the data.<\/p>\n<p>I then decided to get rid of Windows on my server and move to CentOS 7. I chose CentOS 7 as I am currently studying for my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redhat.com\/en\/services\/certification\/rhcsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RHCSA<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Below is the first video of the series.
