Contrary to what Logitech says, the G27 does not seem to work that well in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. I recently rebuilt my racing rig and attached my G27 Steering wheel to the PC. Windows 8.1 picks it up as a joystick instead of a wheel. Another thing I noticed is that the wheel starts turning a bit and stops when booting Windows as if it looses power. The green LED also comes on and goes dim then off. First thoughts I had is that I have a power supply issue.
Turns out it was software related:
I downloaded the latest driver (lgs846_x64) from Logitech’s website but the software failed to pick up the wheel. Windows also showed the wheel as an unknown device. I then downloaded lgs510_x64 from the G27 wheel’s site on the Logitech website and after installing the software it failed to see the wheel.
After a long search on the internet I found the below website and downloaded the 508_64 driver. Removed the previous Logitech software and installed the lgs510_x64 drivers. Voila! it picked up the wheel without any problems.
So if you are having the same problem go to Driverscape and download the lgs510_64 drivers.
Hope this will help some of you out there that experienced the same issue as I have.
