Install VMWare tools in VMWare Player – Linux (Ubuntu / POP_OS)
Just a quick video on how to install the VMWare tools in VMWare Player. I received the below error trying to go into full screen mode and then trying to install the tools from the URL provided as per the error produced: “VMware Tools is no longer shipped with VMWare Player for legacy guest operating systems.” To install the tools run the below from a terminal: sudo apt install open-vm-tools sudo apt install open-vm-tools-desktop You should now be able to go in to full screen in your VM and use the other functionality provided by the VMWare Tools. Below is a quick video I made to show the process.

enable promiscuous mode on adapter error in VMWare Workstation
Hi am testing out VMWare Workstation and have come across the below error when trying to run a Palo Alto OVA. “The virtual machine’s operating system has attempted to enable promiscuous mode on adapter ‘adapter_name’. This is not allowed for security reasons.” The below video shows the error and how to resolve it. If you don’t want to watch the video then please find the steps below the video.
